Frequently Asked Questions
Our Town Drive office is conveniently located next to Walmart Optical. We operate independently of their business; you can enter our office through a dedicated outdoor entrance.Â
We provide compassionate, thorough eye care to patients of all ages, beginning at age 6 months, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and well cared for. Following their eye examination, adult patients who need ongoing care for cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal conditions will be referred to a suitable specialist.
For all first-time patients, we provide a complete eye exam unless your existing eye doctor has referred you for a specialized evaluation or you're experiencing an eye emergency.
When you come in for your eye exam, a team member will collect your exam fee and then guide you through a pre-testing process. Our doctor will carefully review the paperwork you filled out before your visit and assess whether you might need glasses or contact lenses.
Based on the dilated retinal exam results, the doctor will suggest any specific follow-up needed. If, for any reason, you can't be dilated during your visit, please feel free to reschedule to a time that's more convenient for you.Â
All first-time patients ages 10 and up undergo early detection screening for glaucoma and macular degeneration to determine if referral care is necessary. This screening costs $49 and may be covered by your insurance plan with a copay.
Dilation and the screening for first-time patients are part of our standard of care and are really helpful in ensuring we can rule out any unnecessary follow-up visits.Â
Maintain cheerful and uplifting language. Our goal is to prevent any negative associations with the eye visit. Dr. Wiggins will ensure the experience is enjoyable and interactive for your child.
If your child is hesitant about a procedure or test, it's best not to scold them. Instead, Dr. Wiggins will help redirect their focus to achieve the desired outcomes. Have confidence in the process and, most importantly, relax!

Concierge eye care offers a personalized vision care experience through an annual fee, providing enhanced services. This model typically includes benefits such as longer appointment durations, direct access to the eye doctor outside of business hours, and savings on specialty products and services. This service is available to patients enrolled in one of our Peek-a-Boo Vision Plans.
The main goal of these plans is to bridge the gaps and overcome the limitations of traditional vision insurance for non-medical eye care, offering a more comprehensive approach that goes beyond insurance-dependent care.
We are in-network with Spectera, UnitedHealthcare Medical/Vision, Community Eye Care, Davis Vision, Superior Vision, EyeMed, Aetna Vision, Cigna Vision, North Carolina State Health Plan, UHC Community Plan, Carolina Complete, AmeriHealth Caritas NC, and Healthy Blue.
Patients with VSP or other out-of-network policies may be eligible to file a reimbursement claim with their insurance. Please contact your insurance provider directly, as we are unable to verify this information on your behalf.
To book your visit, please follow these steps in order: first, fill out our online patient intake form, and then use the provided link to request your appointment. This sequence is vital for securing your time slot, as our system cannot schedule an appointment without a matching intake form on file.
Please be aware that even if you call us, an appointment cannot be finalized until the form is submitted. While we do welcome same-day appointments when possible, our specialized care and detailed exams mean availability is limited and never guaranteed.
We truly appreciate everyone’s time and are committed to reducing wait times for our valued patients! If you're running late, please inform us right away. Arriving more than five minutes late may shorten your appointment and could require scheduling a second appointment to complete any unfinished items.
Kindly note our policy regarding cancellations: a $25 fee applies to any no-shows or cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice. This balance must be settled before a new appointment can be arranged.
